Dad was always sports mad and played football, cricket and tennis from his school days onwards. He regularly played for the Old Centralians Cricket Team, even managing to get a few games in after we'd moved to Bury !! After that he played a few games for the Pimpernell Club in Barrow, but eventually settled as a spectator. In the Winter he played football for the " KC " and I remember travelling around the villages in the Kettering area to support him. I much preferred the cricket season when it was a lot warmer !! Having given up the more active sports when we moved to Bury, he then dedicated himself to Billiards and Snooker, playing at various times for the RAFA and the West End Home Guard clubs. He did win many trophies over the years from 1965 to 1985, mainly at Billiards, which was his favourite. After he retired he continued to support the sports from his armchair, mainly Football, Cricket, Rugby and Tennis. His favourite team " the Poppies " Kettering Town, have sadly not progressed beyond the Vauxhall Conference, so he has not been able to watch them regularly on the telly !
